Restricting Access to KAPES Mass Update functionality

Because of the volume of changes Mass Update can effect on the database, and their resulting impact, it is imperative that only the KAPES System Administrator Group should have access to this functionality.

Access for all other Users can be restricted as follows:

  1. Login to “Config” as a user with “Sysadmin” access rights.

2.      Select the “Security” option on the displayed “KAPES Configuration Menu”.

3.      On the “Security Maintenance” menu select the “Group Maintenance” option.

4.      In the “Security Group Maintenance” window select the group that is to have restricted access to “Mass Update”, e.g. User in the following screen-shot:

5.      Select the “Permission” button.

6.      Scroll down the “Group Permission Maintenance” window and select the “Mass Update –Type”.

7.      Change this “Type” setting to “N” for no access to this functionality – for this group of users.

8.      Select “Done” to close this window and save the changes.

9.      Repeat from step 4 for any other Groups that require restricted access to “Mass Update”.

10.  When all required “Groups” have been updated, close the “Security Group Maintenance” window with the “Done” button.

11.  Close the “Security Maintenance” window with the “Done” button and finally “Exit from Config”.

12.  The “Mass Update” icon on the “KAPES Main Menu” window will now be grayed-out for those Users logging in to KAPES with one of the restricted groups.
